In 2016, there were 22 new molecular entities approved by the FDA for use in the United States, along with a number of FDA drug safety alerts released. This presentation will take an in-depth look at the selection of medications, studies that lead to approval, dosing and adverse effects, helping pharmacists gain proficiency in these new medications and bettering their daily practice. Other topics addressed will include FDA warnings and how they affect pharmacy practice, relating new medications approved in 2016 with those previously approved, and patient counseling and monitoring of the newly approved medications.
